Co-leader de Veruca Salt, puis en solo après les disputes violentes ayant entraîné son départ du groupe, Nina garde ce style inimitable, mélange de candeur et de rock attitude inimitable.
Son premier album, "Tonight and the rest of my life" avait en 2000 réussi le pari de s’attirer les louanges de la presse indie mais aussi du grand public américain, réussissant ainsi un compromis acceptable entre adult-rock et indie.
